My Favorite Ingredients to Put Into a Smoothie (Watch the Video!)

Watch the video here:

So, you like protein smoothies? What your favorite ingredients to put into the blender?

Let me know in the comments below!

Also – did you hear that we just released our NEW Plant Based Protein Powder?

It’s vegan. It’s USDA organic. It’s non-GMO.

And the best part?

It tastes delicious! You can add it to recipes (like the one we shared here), or you can even drink it in just plain water. Here are what some earlier reviewers said about it:

The fact that my 2 year old loves it should say everything about this product! He kept asking for “mo.” – Corinn T.

“I’d give 2 thumbs up to this chocolate protein powder – all natural, very minimal ingredients, no artificial sweeteners and yet it tasted sweet and delicious. I’d definitely be happy to drink this for breakfast every morning!” – Stefani M.

“I’ve tried a lot of vegan protein powders and I am very impressed with Truvani protein powder. It tastes great, mixes well and the texture is nice. I’ve had protein powders that tasted chalky before and was pleasantly surprised to find that this one is not chalky or gritty at all.” – Melinda A.

I know it tastes great. And that’s why we also offer a no questions asked “Love The Taste” Guarantee. Meaning, if you try our Protein Powder, and dislike the taste, just email our team and refund your order. Easy.

I never set out to create my own product line, but I now know that’s exactly what I needed to do to force Big Food companies to change.

I’m also a realist. We must ensure we only put the best quality ingredients into our bodies, but it should feel great doing it. And that’s why taste is so important.

So, try our Plant Based Protein Powder. This week we are offering a “launch special” where you can save about 25% when you get one bag auto shipped to you each month.

And there’s a no hassle “Love The Taste” guarantee.

I’m really looking forward to trying your new powder!

In my smoothies, I usually put in half a pear and use almond milk, although I’m going to start trying it with water. Also, pears aren’t in season right now, so I may try the frozen fruit like you use. But I also add organic cinnamon, L-Glutamine and flax seed. And when I want to be a little decadent, I add in cocoa nibs, too!

  • Denise Y Williams says:

  • Lynn says:

I like coconut water or coconut milk, a squeeze of lime or lemon juice, avocado (makes it
so smooth). I like frozen bananas occasionally too.

  • Michele says:

So excited about your protein powder!

I make a daily smoothie with frozen kale, frozen blueberries or raspberries, 1/2 avocado, almond milk and protein powder. Occasionally I add Maca powder, flax seed, and/or cacao!

For the afternoon I use chocolate pea protein, ground cinnamon, coffee, coca nibs, Chai seeds, small piece of papaya and a small piece of peach…..8 ice cubes blended with water.

  • Judith A Saboni says:

Vani I’ve been wanting to order a protein mix for a while now . But I was hesitant about other companies . I’m so excited to see that you have ventured into your own product for a protein powder . I have been following you and your standards and commitment to the best quality ingredients , puts my mind at ease to order Truvani protein powder with out second guessing if the ingredients are safe or not . Can’t wait to get my order of protein powder and bone broth.

  • Carol G. says:

I have been making a green smoothie every morning for about 3 weeks now. Cleaning out the old colon protocol so to speak. That is how the green smoothie started 🙂 Prior to this, it was mainly just a fruit smoothie (banana, strawberries & OJ). Now, because I enjoy them and the protol is working lol, I make a blender full of green goodies every 2 days of which I divide into 3 portions, (2 large & 1 small) 1 large for breakfast, 1 small for an afternoon snack & 1 large that I save slighlty frozen for the nexts days breakfast.

The list of ingredients seems extensive but, it really boils down to lots of good food smoothie options. Straw days & sometimes enjoyed with a spoon.

The base is 2 cups of a liquid (nut milk, coconut water, broth, green tea… ) I mostly use coconut water, or green tea. Then I add 2-4 types of greens just fill up the blender twice with (spinach, kale, cabbage, beet greens, carrot greens, arugula, edible weeds…)
I have used all of the above, I just mix it up evey day depending on what I bought at the market (sometimes lots of 50/50 spring mix ) & or what I find in the yard. (purslane. red clover, dandelion).
then I add 2 to 3 types of fruit (apple, banana, berries, peach, apricot, pineapple, citrus….) I mainly use Frozen Berries 1-2 cups. Wild Blackberries, Blueberries & Strawberries my favorite & usually always an apple or 2.
Then I add a tsp or more of super food (aloe, bee pollen, cacao, garlic, flax, ginger, honey…) and sometimes 1 tbl of coconut oil.
served with a side of mixed nuts. 🙂
    Seriously green goodness.
Cant wait to add in your protein powder.

  • Rosie says:

I use coconut milk/ yogurt, frozen fruit, greens ( whatever I’ve bought), vanilla bone broth protein powder, collagen powder, 1Tb chia, 2Tb flax.

  • Cheri says:

Coconut water, Spinach, blueberries, 3 of ur YOUR turmeric pills, collagen, lemon, fresh ginger, walnuts and sometimes avocado

  • Margaret Mary Payne says:

I always add avocado; plant based protein; banana; and peanut butter to smoothies.

  • Susan D. says:

I don’t have a recipe. Just use what I have or what I’m in the mood for. Staples are kale/spinach, yogurt, protein powder, berries, other fruit like pineapple or banana, seeds n nuts or cocoa nibs. Sometimes I grate jicama or ginger. I fly by the seat of my pants!

  • Leslie says:

I use unsweetened almond milk, but will probably now use water. organic super greens, organic frozen berry mix, 1 banana, sometimes avocado and chia seeds.

I like to juice the vegetables but for smoothies I use frozen strawberries, blueberries, cranberries, bananas, some yogurt or kefir and 2T ground flaxseeds and chia seeds.

  • Cindy says:

YES!!!! I’m SO excited about your new protein powder! My smoothies are my go-to if I’m in a rush, or instead of fast food!
I love to add frozen organic cherries!

  • Asia Hartley says:

Sounds good, I always use spinach and kale with a fruit thats in season, with flax, hemp and chia, with water. My go to every single morning, after my hot/cold water infused with lemon any cayenne pepper.

  • Linda Davis says:

I use a handful of kale, one kiwi, a half avacodo,a small burro banana, and hemp seeds, the juice from two keylimes and spring water

  • Antone says:

I use to just do simple smoothies with a banana and 1 other sweet fruit with almond milk or water but it felt heavy to me and very sweet using Orgain USDA Organic Plant Protein Powder. I still use Orgain because it’s simple and I started adding kale or spinach a while back to pull the sweet flavor off a bit. My worry has always been how much sugar is still used in protein powders or sugar alternatives. And everything else has MSG, carrageenan (which I despise) or use whey or milk. I don’t want any of that so I’m tempted to buy yours.

  • Amanda says:

Can’t wait to try your protein powder! Looks and sounds amazing!!

I love to put frozen bananas or berries, greens (spinach or kale), filtered water or almond milk, a scoop of nut butter, cinnamon, chia seeds or ground flax. Yum 😋

  • Suzanna Cantley says:

I make own smoothiess from ingredients on hand but on days where I am needing more time to be some else having this powder is the go to to keep the energy I need. Summet is great to get fresh stuff from garden but winter is when I definitely need this. Use cocao powder when the powder is not already chocolate flavored.

  • pam findley says:

I like to pump up FIBER – so I add ground flax, chia, hemp hearts, maca powder. A gal has to do what she can do to keep the pipes clean!!!!

  • Shirley Young says:

Plain Full fat Yogart, heavy cream, MCT oil, Coca powder, KETO protein powder (will replace with yours) hemp seeds, avocado and swerve. Ice, & water. It’s a KETO smoothie.

  • Rina says:

All the things you mentioned, and I always include a frozen banana, almond milk, maca powder, a little cinnamon, ashwaganda powder and spirulina or chlorella powder!

  • Jane Riley says:

Thank you for all of your efforts in making the world out there a better place, Vani!

In my smoothie I use, wild blueberries (contain more antioxidants), organic strawberries (conventional strawberries are #1 this year on the dirty dozen list), banana, almond milk, kale, fresh lemon juice, plain Greek yogurt, and I can hardly wait to add your protein powder!

    Take care, Jane

  • terry says:

    water/almond butter/choc. protein powder/chia/avocado

    coconut milk/apple/vanilla protein powder/cinnamon/nutmeg

  • terry says:

Forgot the vanilla in my apple pie shake above.

  • Jodi A. says:

I like to add a nice dose of fiber, so, like you, I use kale and berries, but then I add 1 T each of chia, flax, nutritional yeast and psyllium. Also add 1 T of collagen powder, some water or almond milk, an ice cube, sometimes some matcha and that’s it. Have to drink it somewhat quickly because the chia will thicken it, but it keeps me full for HOURS!

  • Polly says:

    Hi Vani – Trivani
I am looking forward to your Protein Powder.
I have appreciated all your emails and I thank you for all
    your research and hard work.
I am on a SS – a set monthly income and I can’t afford your Wonderful products.
But I buy when I can.

    Thanks you again.

  • Sally D'Alessandro says:

I have been searching for a great plant based chocolate protein that does not have that stevia aftertaste! Thanks Vani! I love it! I have my green drink in the afternoon, but in the morning I love my hot coffee! Now I have mocha coffee with 20 grams of protein! YUM! 🙂

  • Beauty Warrior says:

Thanks for creating this and sending some my way. Can’t wait to try it out! xx

  • Beauty Warrior says:

I also like to mix it up and use different greens each day, plus I love to add chia seeds for texture + fiber, coconut water, a tablespoon of sunflower seed butter, 1/2 frozen banana, cacao nibs when I need a sweet treat!

  • Yvonne Moses says:

I like to use frozen spinach and a half of a frozen banana to give it the milkshake consistency. Sometimes I will add some peanut butter powder or strawberries if I’m using vanilla powder. I’m hoping that will be Vani’s next flavor. 🙂

  • Kim Sargeant says:

I am looking forward to my first shipment. I’ve tried a lot of protein powders but all have missed the mark for me. I make my own almond/hemp milk as a base for my smoothies. I haven’t put greens in lately, but often do as I need those nutrients. Lately it has been fresh peach and blueberries. yum

  • Belina Villanueva says:

I love to mix my smoothie with fresh kale, spinach, blueberries, flaxseed, moringa powder, ashwagandha powder, tumeric powder, cocoa powder, chia seeds, and coconut milk. Yummy. Love to try your protein powder especially the chocolate flavor to enhance my vegan diet.

  • Irene says:

I put matcha powder, flaxseed oil, chia seeds, berries, 1 apple and kefir. I will try the ginger now. I make this for 2 and some lasts for the next day.

  • Lynn Perkins says:

I mix several protein powders. Immortal machine by David wolf from longevity warehouse(chocolate). Dr Mercolachocolate protein & sunwarrior chocolate protein plus I add broccoli sprout organic powder from the health ranger & his fermented super 30 I sometimes add nutriliving green powder.

  • Patsy Dion says:

I use the same ingredients that you do, Vani. I use an organic kale, spinach and chard mix that I get at Safeway. I freeze it in batches so it doesn’t go bad. Flax seeds and fresh organic ginger along with frozen organic strawberries or raspberries, which are very high in fiber! And of course, your Truvani protein! I’d been using organic plant based proteins, but my lead levels became sky high and when I saw that you had tested 52 pea proteins that had failed due to heavy metals, I knew I had to get yours. I am so relieved to know that I’m not being poisoned anymore!

  • Margarete Hyer says:

I put about 6 ice cubes, and 2 – 3 inches of Berkey filtered water into my Vitamix container. I add in frozen wild blueberries, and rotate other frozen fruits (mango, pineapple, raspberries, strawberries), then I dump in my pre-prepared mixture of half apple, half orange, half carrot, stalk of celery, parsley, bunch of spinach and/or kale, and sometimes cilantro. (I always prep my AM juice mixture in advance – night before). Lately, I’ve topped off my Vitamix blend with Hemp Protein powder, and sometimes add in Amla Powder, Barley Grass Powder, and refrigerated Omega oil. Of course everything is organic and as clean as possible. 🙂 Takes me less than 5 minutes to make each morning. Easy and delicious!

  • Marsha J says:

Wow, lots of amazing smoothie ideas here! I can’t wait to try your protein powder sample. I love your bone broth, marine collagen, and turmeric tablets. For my smoothie: baby spinach, frozen strawberries and blueberries, vinegar, fresh lemon, flaxseed, chia seeds, your turmeric tablet, marine collagen, water and a little milk (I’m studying your amazing milk post–so I can find better nut milks you recommend). The Food Babe and now Feeding You Lies is continuing to change my life!!! Thank you Vani!

  • May Pearson says:

Can I get a small sample of pea protein powder in chocolate flavor before I purchase it?

    Thanks.
